RJ Torr, ( Raymond J Torr) Born in Michigan in 1963,  I began playing guitar at age 8, and wrote my first song at age 11, and have written over 100 songs, lol probably more but I haven't really been counting!

I served in the Navy from 1981 to 1991, and played music all over the world, including Albany Australia, where my rock band SPECTRUM made enough attention to attract A&R representatives from an Australian   record label! We were shocked with an offer, but had to decline due to obligation with our Navy commitments. I continued to honorably serve until February, 1991. 

In 1992, back home in Michigan, I formed The High Country Band, and in December of that year we opened a show with the legendary, Johnny Paycheck, in Pt. Huron Mi.

In 1996, my wife Lisa and I moved to Nashville, Tn. After a few months,  I was introduced to a producer from Big Wampum Records, Mr. Jeff DeBusk, and began singing demos for him and legendary writer Ted Harris, who wrote (Chrystal Chandelier). 

I then started recording my own album "The Just Can't Help Its", featuring "Marie Laveau", which was an honor to cut with Bobby Bare's blessing! The album was cut utilizing some of the best session players in Nashville, including a guitar player from Loretta Lynn's band, Mr. Bobby Vogel. 

Also, a funny thing happened unexpectedly while recording my album. I was working part time for a limo service and was offered a tribute role as Neil Diamond for the Las Vegas Legends, when I picked them up at the airport! They actually auditioned me on the ride to the hotel! That was very cool, but I had to turn down the offer as I was still recording my own album at the time.

In 1999, some of the players on my album and I were scheduled to go on tour with Travis Tritt as his opening act for a casino tour. Well, Charlie Daniels' actually ended up with the tour...I was bummed and thrilled at the same time! Lol, thus is the nature of the business. 

I then continued driving truck by day, singing demos at night, then was excited to have Eddy Arnold listen to my demo tape, and I learned that he got very emotional over one of my songs called "Daddy's Love", (a song which depicts a father's love for his children, when they have been separated by divorce, and long distance). 

I then spent time in studio with his freind and legendary opry musician, Jim Lance for a few months. 

Tragically, a sickness in the family shortened our stay in Nashville, with my album not quite complete. 

Back in Michigan, and driving truck once more, I continued driving until my two injuries occurred in 2022. During the Covid years, 2020 to 2022, I self recorded and released 31 songs, including “Bye Bye 2020”, which became quit  a hit on tik tok! The funny thing is, I wrote the song, recorded the song, and released the song all in one day! I believe that was one or two days before New Years day, 2021. Currently,  I have 31 songs streaming world wide.

I suffered two major injuries 1 month apart in June of 2022. This ended my trucking career and my musical career as well. The doctors couldn't assure me that I would ever play guitar again, at a professional level.  My second accident collapsed my left lung and my ability to sing was affected as well.  It took nearly two years, before I could play and sing an entire song.

Today, I am moving forward preparing two live 90 minute  shows. I have over 500 regular followers, and over 300 users on TikTok who have created their own videos using my music. That's quite humbling, and quite an honor! My rendition of Marie Laveau, recorded in Nashville, is climbing past 70 users on TikTok. This song, as well as Daddy's Love can be found on Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and most other outlets.

Currently, I perform as a solo act, as I promote my album featuring Marie Laveau! I am blessed with entertaining audiences with 2hr to 4hrs of entertaining, featuring country, pop, easy rock, and folk hits. I also perform my own releases, along with tribute songs to Neil Diamond!

For equipment, I have my guitars, and small PA system, bringing to your audience an upbeat, professional quality experience! Built on 50 years of entertaining, I also have plenty of merchandise for the fans... tees, CDs, photos, koozies and more! I have played venues, small and large.
